The Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI) is one of the world’s premier genome sequencing centers, headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, China. BGI was founded in 1999 with the vision of using genomics to benefit the human race and became the first citizen-managed, non-profit research institution in China. BGI has expanded its research and development with BGI Americas and BGI Europe, along with establishing partnerships and collaborations with leading academic and government research institutions as well as global biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, to support a variety of healthcare, agricultural, environmental and related applications.
Seagate expanded their product portfolio with the acquisition of Xyratex, an innovative data storage technology company with unique expertise addressing HPC storage solutions, modular OEM storage systems and hybrid scale-out cloud solutions. The two sides expressed significant interest in developing a cooperative partnership and collaborating on technology solutions for the China National Gene Pool Project. Additionally, Wax Myrtle introduced the Seagate Life Sciences Team to many other engagement opportunities with leading companies in the oil and gas industry.
